Vivek Oberoi versus Vivek Oberoi
Vivek Oberoi hasn't had a film release for almost two years now [RAKHT CHARITRA was his last release]. But come October and the actor will have two films vying for audience attention. What puts Vivek in an awkward situation is that the two films in question, JAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY and KLPD - KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI are slated for release on the same day, on 5 October.
Of course, it goes without saying that no actor would like to have two films clashing on the same date, but as things stand today, the respective producers, Kumar Taurani and Amit Chandra, respectively are not ready to budge from that date. "Picture ek hi aani chahiye," Kumar Taurani informs me, "Well, it's not a great idea to have two films of the same actor releasing on the same date. It's not good for the producer, it's not good for the actor as well. I can talk about JAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY, it's definitely arriving on 5 October."
Amit Chandra, the producer of KLPD - KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI, echoes similar sentiments. However, Amit made a formal announcement of the release date of his film at an event on Sunday, when he unveiled the first look of the film. But the question is, is it healthy trend to have two releases on the same day? "It's not. Ideally, there should be a substantial gap between two films. Come to think of it, how would an actor promote two films simultaneously? Wouldn't it confuse the audience?" Amit reasons.
Has Amit spoken to Kumar Taurani about it? "Yes, I did... I hope he blinks first [smiles]. I hope he's sweet enough to shift his film ahead," Amit states. What is Vivek's stance on the entire thing? "I guess, Vivek wants Kumar-ji and me to sort it out amongst ourselves," Amit adds. Let's see who blinks first!
