Salman Khan can finally heave a sigh of relief as the Mumbai sessions court has ordered a fresh trial in the 2002 hit and run case. Salman had requested for a fresh trial after facing serious charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder on November 19.
The actor, who was caught in the hit and run case way back in 2002 for allegedly crushing a group of people sleeping on the pavement, leaving one dead and four injured, was charged with causing death by negligence in the initial stages of the case. But recently, on July 24, when the case was being heard in court, as per the given evidence, Salman was charged with culpable homicide not amounting murder under IPC section 304. Also, the actor was also accused of several other sections which include 279 for causing death by negligence, 337 that is causing hurt by an act, 338 - causing grievous hurt, 427 - causing damage or mischief of property under the Indian Penal Code and provision of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bombay Prohibition Act. This would have resulted in the imprisonment of over 10 years for the actor instead of two years. However, the actor had filed a petition for a fresh trial since he wasn't given an opportunity in the magistrate's court to present his side of witnesses.
Now, the sessions court judge D W Deshpande has agreed for a fresh trial and has asked the prosecution and the defense to submit their list of witnesses on December 23 after which the case would be presented in a fast track court.
Bollywood films going international and how. With the ever increasing market for Indian cinema it's no surprise that international investors are looking at the Indian market. In fact Fullerton, an investment fund controlled by Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings, has bought a 7.4% stake in Bollywood film distributor Eros International.
The acquisition comes after Eros completed the transfer of its primary share listing from London's second tier Alternative Investment Market to the main New York Stock Exchange. With this acquisition Fullerton now holds 8.7 percent in Eros, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The stake was bought on November 13, the day Mumbai-based Eros began trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The stake is valued at about $ 22 million, based on the company's closing price yesterday.
Mr Singh, whose latest release The Great opened Sunny Deol is already well on his next project moving forward. The actor injured his film Returns is set to restart. After a 14 year hiatus, it will mark the return direction, the linen, the last film in 1999 rally being
. Development, the actor's spokesman confirmed that "yes Sunny This act will be directing the film. however, the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. " Says, injured Returns tells the story of a father-daughter relationship, the second part of this Rajkumar Santoshi injured the 1990 film will be directed.
Interestingly, Sunny's house in the film will be produced under the banner winner Films.
Today when film collections have broken the Rs. 100 crore ceiling with box office collections crossing the Rs. 200 crore mark, it's a no brainer that the next big release needs to set the bar higher. Post the super success of Krrish 3 whose collections crossed Rs. 237 crores, the next big release Dhoom 3 has a daunting task ahead. However, to facilitate the earnings of the film, reports suggest that the makers and distributors of the film will be hiking the ticket prices.
Sources within the industry claim that the tickets can be expected to be priced as high as Rs. 500 at regular multiplexes. Apart from this, Dhoom 3 being the first Hindi film to release in the much talked about IMAX format, the ticket prices for the same will come at an even higher cost.
A source from leading multiplex chain says, "As of now there has been no decision taken in terms of hiking the ticket prices for Dhoom 3, however there are chances that the rates may be hiked for the release that coincides with the holiday season of Christmas."
Commenting on the development Rafiq Gangjee from YRF says, "Nothing has been fixed as yet by the exhibitors". In the past we have seen films like Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Chennai Express, Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar and Aamir's Talaash that released with higher ticket prices.
True to its title, the film Commando not only did command decent collections at the BO, but also gave Bollywood its very own desi action hero in the form of Vidyut Jamwal.
Besides the upcoming film Bullet Raja (directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia), Vidyut is also doing a film with Ram Madhavani that's penciled on the lines of 300. Talking about the film, he clarified that it's not a remake of 300. The film will see him with other men looking masculine and strong as the Spartans of 300. Besides this, he didn't give any other details by saying that only an announcement has been made and the rest of the details of the film are yet to be finalized.
