School kids ask Kareena to stop smoking on-screen

In the last few months, there has been a lot of furore caused over depiction of smoking scenes in films. Now students from various schools of Delhi have written postcards / letters to Kareena Kapoor asking her to refrain from smoking on-screen. It's common knowledge that Kareena's latest release Heroine has the actress puffing away to glory in quite a few scenes.

The school students wrote to the actress as a part of HRIDAY's (Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth) ongoing campaign against depiction of tobacco use in films. Actors are a role-model for young school and college going kids and hence showing actors light up a cigarette on screen doesn't set a good example.

HRIDAY had also written to Heroine director Madhur Bhandarkar urging him to abide by the notification and gave reference of movies who have already complied with it. While precious little can be done now considering Heroine has already released, it remains to be seen if Kareena takes this request of her young fans seriously and refrains from smoking on-screen in her forthcoming films.

Kareena Kapoor out of Bhansalis Ram Leela

Kareena Kapoor, who couldn't stop raving about working with maverick filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his next film Ram Leela, has now walked out of the project.

Earlier it was said that Kareena was ousted from the film because of her impending marriage as her wedding date was clashing with the film's shooting schedule but Kareena has clarified that she walked out of the project due to date and monetary issues.

The story goes that Kareena had allotted 100 days for the shooting of Ram Leela in August but Bhansali wanted her to shoot for more days. Kareena couldn't allot more dates for Ram Leela as she signed three new films for next year and the shooting for one of them begins in October immediately after the release of Heroine. Furthermore, the makers of Ram Leela were not even willing to compensate Kareena for her extra dates and that didn't seem viable to Kareena as she can shoot for 3 films in 150 days instead of doing just one film.

After walking out of Ram Leela, it is now possible for Kareena to give 32 days of promotional time for Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, a film that is very special for her.

Ram Leela is said to be an adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Romeo Juliet' and stars Ranveer Singh as a male lead. According to reports, Priyanka Chopra may replace Kareena in the film.
