Sanjay Dutt, who has been serving his jail sentence at Yerawada Central Jail in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, has been granted a parole for 30 days. The reason? To take care of wife Manyata who is ill. In all possibilities, he is likely to be released today, post the completion of the required formalities.
Dutt, who was granted a 14-day furlough in the first week of October, had earlier got a 14-day extension on medical grounds.
Talking about Dutt's parole application, Prabhakar Deshmukh (Pune Divisional Commissioner) said that he has signed the parole application after the reports forwarded by the police and the Yerawada jail authorities were received and the reason stated was that his wife is ill and had to undergo treatment and a surgery. He added that Dutt can be released on a surety and personal bond of Rs 5,000 each and the Yerwada prison superintendent has to decide on the release. He added that the parole condition also states that he has to report to the Kharghar police station twice a week. On the other hand, Yogesh Desai (Yerawada Prison superintendent) said that they have not yet received any communication on Dutt's parole so far and that they will release Dutt after they receive the same.
Meanwhile, Bollywood Hungama's reliable sources added that not all is well at Yerawada jail, as there is a big black flag morcha outside by Sangharsh Samiti, in order to protest against the grant of Dutt's parole.

Salman Khan can finally heave a sigh of relief as the Mumbai sessions court has ordered a fresh trial in the 2002 hit and run case. Salman had requested for a fresh trial after facing serious charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder on November 19.
The actor, who was caught in the hit and run case way back in 2002 for allegedly crushing a group of people sleeping on the pavement, leaving one dead and four injured, was charged with causing death by negligence in the initial stages of the case. But recently, on July 24, when the case was being heard in court, as per the given evidence, Salman was charged with culpable homicide not amounting murder under IPC section 304. Also, the actor was also accused of several other sections which include 279 for causing death by negligence, 337 that is causing hurt by an act, 338 - causing grievous hurt, 427 - causing damage or mischief of property under the Indian Penal Code and provision of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bombay Prohibition Act. This would have resulted in the imprisonment of over 10 years for the actor instead of two years. However, the actor had filed a petition for a fresh trial since he wasn't given an opportunity in the magistrate's court to present his side of witnesses.
Now, the sessions court judge D W Deshpande has agreed for a fresh trial and has asked the prosecution and the defense to submit their list of witnesses on December 23 after which the case would be presented in a fast track court.

For the past week or so, a property dispute between Pooja Bedi and her father Kabir Bedi's companion Parveen Dusanj have been making headlines.
Apparently, Pooja asked Parveen and Kabir to move out of the property which Pooja claims belonged to her mother Protima Bedi, and Pooja then sold off the property.
However a close friend of Kabir Bedi says the aforementioned flat was in fact gifted by Kabir to Pooja way back in 1977.
Says the friend, "The apartment 'Beach House' is not Pooja's mother's flat, as claimed in the press. Kabir had gifted the flat to Pooja in 1977 by Trust Deed and had been paying her rent for staying there ever since Kabir returned to India in the early 1990s."
The dispute, says Kabir's friend, was not about who owned the property. "The dispute was about Pooja raising the rent on the flat after Kabir had refurbished it at great personal expense. Pooja didn't need to exercise that right. After all, she lives in a lavish Versova penthouse that once belonged to her ex-husband."
Kabir's friend says Kabir left the disputed home when she asked him to. "Kabir vacated the home in January. There was absolutely no reason to bring Parveen into this sordid business."
Pooja Bedi's close friend has another story.
Says the friend, "This matter is a year old. Pooja doesn't wish to react negatively to any of the nonsense being thrown her way. Time will reveal the truth."
Pooja's friend blames a socialite for bringing out this old family dispute into the public domain. "A bitchy South Mumbai socialite whom Pooja has been ignoring and snubbed openly at a function recently, is behind this."
Kabir Bedi finally broke his silence to say, "I am very upset that Pooja is targeting Parveen when the dispute was between me and her."
We sincerely hope the father and daughter would sit down and sort this matter out like two mature adults.
