The makers of India's first war satire War Chhod Na Yaar have been denied permission to screen their film at the Wagah border for our soldiers.
Apparently, the film's core cast of Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi and Javed Jaffrey were all set to fly down to the border along with producer Prashanth Narayan and director FarazHaider to screen their film when they were suddenly informed that their scheduled screening in Wagah had been cancelled.
While no army or government personnel was forthcoming on the reason for the abrupt cancellation of the screening, a source close to the film says, "The border area is at the moment considered very sensitive because of the strained relations with Pakistan. They cannot risk a film crew at Wagah."
Confirming the denial of permission to screen the film in the sensitive border town, producer Prashanth Narayan says, "We were going to screen our movie for our jawaans. We had tied up with TV Today group to take our film to Wagah. Unfortunately they were not able to get the necessary permission."

With three prominent film personalities already under the scanner for service tax evasion, the department has proclaimed that they are going to be much more stringent about these tax laws. Sunny Deol is already on the verge of an arrest considering the fact that the actor turned producer has a payment of Rs. 20 lakh due to the Service Tax Department and the department will send a show-cause in the next two days.
Recently other filmmakers who were booked for similar charges were Sameer Karnik for evading Rs. 1.88 crore, Anurag Kashyap for evading Rs. 70 lakh and Tigmanshu Dhulia for evading Rs. 47 lakh. Mumbai Service Tax commissioner R. Sekar announced that 132 notices have been sent to Film and TV Productions houses and this includes bigwigs like Eros International, Big Cinemas/Big Entertainment, Anil Kapoor Films Ltd, Red Eye and Phantom etc. He also revealed that he has come across production houses which do not pay service tax at all.
However, to find a solution for this legal controversy, Film and Television Producers Guild of India joined hands with Service Tax Department and in a meeting, the CEO of the Guild Kulmeet Kakkar decided to write to the members asking them to co-operate with the Tax Department. For cases where the filmmakers were unable to pay taxes because of certain reasons, a VCS (Voluntary Compliance Scheme) was designed by the department to help the industry. Sameer Karnik has applied for VCS.
Milan Talkies recently faced a major change with Imran Khan being replaced by Shahid Kapoor. And now, the film has also lost its female lead. News is that Priyanka Chopra has also walked out of this Tigmanshu Dhulia film.
Though Shahid and Priyanka's past friendship is being spoken of as the reason for PC leaving the film, producer Ekta Kapoor firmly states that the actress had date issues and that the shoot of Milan Talkies was clashing with yet another shoot schedule. Also, the producer revealed that they have allowed Priyanka to leave only on the condition that she would surely sign another film with the production house.
However, for now Tigmanshu and Ekta are in search of yet another actress for the film.
