Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest flick “Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela” was banned in Uttar Pradesh by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Thursday. A bench of Justice Ashok Pal Singh and Justice Devi Prasad Singh passed the ban order while hearing a petition filed by Maryada Purshottam Bhagwan Ramleela Samiti from Bahraich. […]
Many were surprised with the recent release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Ram-Leela, which was later renamed as Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela. The name was changed as a result of an order passed by the Delhi High Court w.r.t. a petition filed against the film accusing it of hurting religious sentiments. The petition also said that since the term 'Ram Leela' is associated with Lord Ram and movie-goers would expect a religious film.
This was just one of the many examples that have rubbed the film industry in the wrong way. That's why the Film and Television Producers Guild of India (FTPGI) has now dashed off a letter to Manish Tewari (Minister for Information & Broadcasting) requesting that, "Any challenge to the release of a film, which has been duly certified as fit for public exhibition by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), disregards the legal sanctity and competence of the certificate granted by the CBFC." Besides this, the said letter also spoke about the litigations that any movie faces and which are initiated strategically just before the release of a film. The letter also stated that, "We would therefore like to register our strong protest with the Government of India and request you to extend your full support to curb such moves."
A Delhi court Tuesday stayed the release of Bollywood movie “Ram-leela”, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The movie is scheduled to be released Nov 15. Additional District Judge A.S. Jayachandra, in an ex-parte interim order, restrained the movie’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Eros promoters from releasing the movie till further orders. The court’s […]

After Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani becoming a smash hit, Ranbir and Deepika will pair up again in Imtiaz Ali's next. Though the director is quite tight-lipped about the news, the confirmation of the movie being tentatively titled as Window Seat was given by Ranbir Kapoor recently.
The film's plot and story is not known yet.
Meanwhile, Deepika, who is on a hit spree, will be next seen opposite Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela. On the other hand, Ranbir will be next seen in Besharam.
Gulshan Devaiah who received praises for his role in Shaitan, will be seen in an all new avatar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ramleela. The talented actor plays the antagonist in the movie.
Gulshan essays the character of 'Bhavani' in the movie. Talking about his character, Gulshan says, "Bhavani is a prominent member of the Jadeja clan who are of Chandrivanshi Rajput descent living in modern day Kutch Gujarat. The exact attributes of the character and his contribution to the plot is something I cannot divulge in but let's just say he has enough shades of grey and is nothing like I have done this far in my career ." He further adds, "I am very excited to be a part of the film as I have grown up watching Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films and I am overwhelmed by the greatness of the man."
Gulshan has already shot for the film. The movie is slated to release on November 15, 2013
The long-awaited Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiyaan, his first release in 3 years following his illness and slow recovery, has finally found a release date. The long-anticipated spectacle is all set to be released on 12 December, the day Rajinikanth turns 63.
We've heard a lot of false release dates for Kochadaiyaan for the last one and a half years. But now finally the film's co-producer Dr. Murli Manohar confirms, "We are aiming at a 12 December, 2013 release for the film, finally. It's been a long struggle. But we wanted Rajiniji's fans to get the most perfect film after a 3-year wait. I think we've achieved what we set out to do."
The film's music by A R Rahman will be released in October.
The release of Kochadaiyaan in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and several other languages including Japanese makes it the most global Rajinikanth release ever.
It looks like Deepika Padukone who plays Rajinikanth's female lead in Kochadaiyaan would have 4 back-to-back blockbusters in 2013. While Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express have already smashed box-office records, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela and Kochadaiyaan which Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya directs would consolidate Deepika's position as the no.1 Bollywood diva.
Interestingly, this special-effects laden action film Kochadaiyaan comes just a week ahead of Yash Raj's Dhoom 3 which releases on 20 December.
It was a night to remember. A night at Bandra's most celebrated address 'Mannat' where Shah Rukh Khan invited all his friends from the film industry for an Eid party. Everyone who counted was there. Well, almost.
Contrary to rumours that Shah Rukh Khan "cancelled" his Iftaar party for his colleagues last week, the truth is he never intended to have one. He, in fact, hosted a lavish party at his residence on Saturday night where he has personally invited all his friends. Though the party was said to be a Eid get-together, it seems more like a celebration for the stupendous opening of SRK's latest release Chennai Express.
One of his most prominent invitees says, "Shah Rukh's party was never meant to be an Iftaar party. It was always an Eid party for which Shah Rukh personally called all his friends. He was very clear that the success ratio of Chennai Express had nothing to do with the party. That is why he sent out personal invites to all his friends even before the film's release."
The invitees at the party on Saturday include Hrithik and wife, Arjun Rampal and wife, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, Farah Khan, Rani Mukerji and of course, the Chennai Express gang.
Chennai Express has had the best opening for any film in 2013, beating the other top openers of the year Abbas-Mustan's Race 2, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Alas, the lady of the moment, and Shah Rukh's Chennai Express co-star Deepika Padukone was missing. She had left Mumbai and the country to shoot for an ad. Kareena Kapoor was shooting in Detroit and Katrina Kaif chose to stay away, thereby leaving the coast clear for Shah Rukh's other leading ladies Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and Anushka Sharma to make the best of the night.
The Bachchans, without matriarch Jaya (who prefers to stay away from parties and events these days) arrived late and stayed till the end of the party at around 6 am.
But wait... no matter what the rumours of a rift between best-buddies Shah Rukh and Karan Johar, Karan was around till almost 3 am in the morning mingling with guests who ranged from Mukesh-Tina Ambani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Yo Yo Honey Singh and Neelam.
Naturally, one of the topics of conversation was the success of Chennai Express with everyone congratulating Shah Rukh on the film's fabulous opening.
"But Shah Rukh kept brushing off the compliments. He insisted the party was not to celebrate Chennai Express. He was here there everywhere. He exchanged a few words with every guest although his home was overflowing with superstar guests," says one of the Shah Rukh's invitees.
The most beautiful ladies at the party were Tabu, Sushmita Sen and Madhuri Dixit who looked like, in the words of a prominent filmmaker, "proud stunning products of the 40-plus club. Tabu and Sushmita should be working a lot more. Shah Rukh had compliments for every lady in the room. He was bursting with energy."
Rapper-composer-singer Honey Singh was by Shah Rukh's side for most of the night. Groggy on Sunday afternoon, Honey said, "It was a fabulous party. Shah Rukh bhai is one of the best hosts I've ever seen. He took me around the party introduced me to everyone. I am new to the industry. In one evening, I got to know everyone worth knowing."
Except of course Salman and Aamir Khan.
Suddenly, Aditya Roy Kapur is all over the place. That's what one Friday does to actors. Having failed to make any impact in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish and Vipul Shah's London Dreams and Action Replayy, suddenly Aditya is the flavour of the season with two back-to-back blockbusters Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, both turning the young Kapoor into one of the most saleable actors in Bollywood.
The process of re-discovering Aditya Roy Kapur has begun in right earnest. One now hears that a sleeper Hindi-Tamil-Telugu project with Aditya in the lead that was designed to launch the Southern hottie Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Hindi would be revived and released.
The action-adventure-comedy entitled Assi Nabbe Poore Sau in Hindi stars Aditya in only the Hindi version. Jeeva and Nani star in the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film. Samantha is common to all three versions of the film.
Says a source from the Tamil film industry, "With the miserable flopping of Gautham Menon's Hindi film Ek Deewana Tha and Aditya's films not doing well, Assi Nabbe Poore Sau was as good as shelved. But now there is a sudden upsurge of interest in Aditya. So the project is going to be revived."
Vipul Shah, who had launched Aditya in London Dreams and Action Replayy, says he is planning to cast Aditya.
Says Vipul, "I always believed in Aditya's talent. That's why I gave him the central part in Action Replayy. And let me remind you, he played a rockstar in my film London Dreams long before Aashiqui 2. Unfortunately, these films didn't do well. But he got noticed. Now he has a huge fan-following. And that makes me very proud. Yes, we will be working together soon."
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in whose Guzaarish, Aditya played a fey characters is also delighted by Aditya's sudden stardom. "I felt his tremendous potential during the shooting of Guzaarish. He had a difficult role. But he managed to get a hang of the part effortlessly."
